This is a rather long post today so if you’d rather skip to the top tips, just scroll to the bottom.  😀 A CAL is … [Read more…]

Oddments

Hello everyone! Another very busy and productive week behind me.   With yesterday being Easter Sunday, I spent rather a lot of time in the kitchen and didn’t have as much time for crochet as I would have liked.  Added to that I was slightly under the weather yesterday so it was a quiet day in … [Read more…]

This method has probably been around for as long as crochet.  No one clued me in so it was something I had to learn for myself.  For some of you this is probably ancient news but for those just starting out, I hope this is a help.   Left is the front of the starting … [Read more…]

Scrappy Baby Blanket Progress & New Baby Blanket Project

A friend I made playing Guild Wars2, is about to become a father again…to twin boys!  A fan of the New York Rangers NHL hockey team, his idea of blankets in home and away team shirt colours is inspired and fun. Happy, Scrappy Love Story Baby Blanket

This has been quite the week for our family…our first proper snow since moving up here, a crochet revelation and best of all, the arrival of a beautiful baby girl to my husband’s youngest sister and her husband. Since moving up here a few years ago, we’ve not experienced a proper snow fall prior to … [Read more…]

Nature’s Art – Snowflakes

I appreciate art in all forms, especially in nature. It snowed here properly tonight for the first time since 2016.  When the fluffy stuff arrives, I have quite the nerdfest with my camera and super macro lens adaptor.  My prey: shooting a perfectly formed snowflake. Over the years I’ve caught one or two above average … [Read more…]

Easy Beginner Project – Rainbow Scarf

The best advice I can give to beginner crocheters: resist the temptation to start off with a big project such as a single sized (or larger) blanket.  Start small – like with a baby blanket or a scarf. Starting small gives you enough yarn to practice your stitches and tension consistency.  If you make mistakes … [Read more…]
